Big Girls Don’t Cry
By Andrea Johnson (Co-Founder & CEO, ThisLife)
A few years ago I was in the ER with my 3-year-old daughter after she fell and sliced her forehead on the edge of a metal Tonka truck. She had the nurses howling as she sang her rendition of “Big Girls Don’t Cry”.
Here is a recent photo of her hamming it up in ballet class.
She has a gift for making people laugh, and I try to document her one-liners before I forget them. Her “one-liners” were our inspiration for Text Moments on ThisLife.
If someone in your life says funny or meaningful things capture them as Text Moments. You can create Text Moments from within your timeline or you can post them to your timeline by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Just put the quote in the subject field (not in the body) of the email. Next time you open your timeline, they’ll be waiting for you.
Here are a few of my daughter’s prize one-liners:
“We only get treats once in a while, right? Is it once in a while yet?”
- age 3
“Are Chocolate Labs made of chocolate?”
-age 4 and potentially willing to trade in her Yellow Lab for a giant dog-shaped Easter bunny.
“We need a tree skirt because our (Christmas) tree is a girl.”
