Sunday Photo Memory: Fall Sports

Our photo theme this week is fall sports. Keep your eye out tomorrow for some great sports-related photography tips, as well as fall sports discussions on our Facebook page. And as we start a new photo theme each week, we’re going to spend Sundays sharing some photo memories with you.
My son is 8, and really into martial arts now. He takes Tae Kwon Do classes 4 times a week, which leaves little time for organized team sports like football or soccer. It’s been four years since we excitedly cheered from the sidelines, and in some ways, I really miss that team camaraderie. I had to dig way back into my ThisLife timeline to finally find the fall sports photo pictured above.
Looking at the photo, it’s hard for me to believe that my son was ever four years old! He looks so chubby-cheeked and pint-sized, drowning in his oversized soccer jersey. I remember how crisp and cool the air was the day this photo was taken. Soccer games were held at 8 a.m., before the weather in Texas got incredibly hot, even in late October. I remember him wanting to come off the field to eat Tootsie Rolls instead of actually chase the ball around. I remember tucking his jersey in and thinking, “Gosh, he’s getting so big.”
Little did I know at that time that I’d look at this photo just four years later and think, “Gosh, he was so small.”
